Apple’s biggest software update of 2026 introduces Siri AI, smarter Apple Intelligence tools, enhanced family safety features, and faster performance across its

Apple has announced a wide range of new software features during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2026), including a much smarter Siri, upgraded artificial intelligence tools, stronger parental controls, and performance improvements across its devices.
The company introduced Siri AI, a new version of Siri designed to be more intelligent and helpful. Apple says Siri AI can understand personal context, search across apps such as Messages, Mail, and Photos, answer questions about content on a user’s screen, and even pull information from the web to provide up-to-date answers.
The new AI features will also expand to other Apple apps. In Photos, users will be able to adjust image composition after taking a picture. Messages will offer smart suggestions for creating reminders and notes based on conversations, while Safari can monitor webpages and notify users when information changes.
Apple also revealed major updates for families. New parental controls will allow parents to better manage what children can access online, approve new contacts, limit screen time, and block violent or graphic content. The company says these tools are designed to help create safer digital experiences for younger users.
Performance improvements are another major focus. Apple claims apps will launch faster, photos will load more quickly, and AirDrop transfers will be significantly faster. Search functions in Mail, Photos, and Spotlight have also been improved to deliver more accurate results.
Additional features announced include cross-platform iCloud Shared Albums, enhanced health tracking for menopause and perimenopause, customizable audio settings for AirPods, upgraded Apple Maps visuals, and new capabilities for Apple Vision Pro.
The software updates will be available for developer testing immediately, with public beta versions arriving next month. Apple plans to release the final versions to users later this year as free software updates.
The company says Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI will initially support several major languages, with additional languages expected to be added over time.
